Earlier in February, I had the opportunity to check out some of the best resorts in Charleston. I’m excited to share some of my favorites here with you!
I’ll try my best to keep it short but there’s just so much good info to share it makes it difficult LOL.
Keep in mind that additional perks are available when you book through me using Traveluxe Official Concierge Service.
Charleston is the oldest and largest city in South Carolina. It is a city where historic church steeples define the skyline and maritime forests blanket the land. In 2017, Charleston was named the No. 1 city in the United States by Travel + Leisure and the No. 2 city in the world!
Take one step through The Sanctuary's doors and you'll feel like you've been transported back centuries in time to a grand seaside mansion. At once elegant and welcoming, The Sanctuary exemplifies gracious Southern hospitality.
First up is the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island. This is actually located about 30 minutes outside of Charleston but the drive is well worth it. Kiawah is a beautiful island and feels very secluded. This resort includes 5 golf courses (the 2021 PGA tour is actually being hosted here) as well as several pools, over a dozen restaurants, many shops, and a world class spa.
The service provided was incredible. Everywhere I turned, there was someone offering a helping hand! Southern hospitality at it’s finest.
Choose from 255 well-appointed guestrooms, with King rooms spanning 520 square feet or more. Or upgrade to an exceptional suite, including the breathtaking 3,000-square-foot Presidential Suite.
All guest rooms at The Sanctuary have balconies with great views. I stayed in one of the ocean view rooms and it was awesome waking up, walking out on the balcony, and feeling like I was right on the beach.
The guest rooms all have the same layout which is super spacious. The huge bathrooms with giant bathtubs feel very luxurious.
The Sanctuary definitely has an Old South feel and fantastic Southern cuisine to boot. There are so many restaurants to choose from and the ones I visited definitely lived up to the quality of food I’ve come to expect from the Low Country.
Stay in unparalleled luxury with the Hotel Bennett. Our distinguished service and meticulous attention to detail create the getaway of your dreams. 179 stylish guestrooms and suites transcend traditional upscale accommodations with custom furnishings and designs that authentically reflect Charleston’s famed elegance and grace. Indulge in designer pedestal tubs, separate showers, luxurious bedding and locally inspired artwork, among many intricate and thoughtful nuances that embody the Hotel Bennett experience.
- The Hotel Bennet
Hotel Bennett is located in downtown Charleston on King Street. Most everything you’d want to visit downtown was within walking distance from this hotel.
This was one of the most lovely properties. It exhibited traditional Charleston charm but in a very modern way that differs from other downtown hotels.
Major picture overload but have you ever seen a more beautiful guestroom?! Because I haven’t. The bookshelf with reading sofa was so nice for relaxing after walking around the city all day. And that bathtub. No words. I think it would accommodate someone 7 feet tall.
Hotel Bennett’s champagne lounge has been dubbed “Most Instagrammable Bar” for a good reason. How pretty?! They serve the most amazing cocktails – I recommend ‘A Moment in Thyme’. They also offer charcuterie and afternoon tea on the weekends. Unfortunately, I was there during the week so I didn’t get to experience the tea setup but I can’t imagine a more perfect location for it.
They also have a couple of other restaurants, a rooftop bar, and a french Patisserie. Also fab!
But wait – there’s more! They also have a heated rooftop pool and lounge reserved for club level guests which includes complimentary alcohol.
Zero George Street
Zero George’s immaculately restored circa 1804 buildings and private courtyard are the ideal ground zero for exploring Charleston’s allure. Meander shady lanes on our complimentary bikes; indulge in our award-winning cuisine; relax with an innovative cocktail. We aim to delight, spoil and surprise you as we serve up Old World authenticity with contemporary upscale hospitality.
Named after our actual street address, Zero George is comprised of sixteen lush guest rooms and studios in three painstakingly restored historic residences and two brick carriage houses that surround our private garden courtyard. We’ve infused it all with a sense of intimacy and warm personality, honoring the buildings’ solid 1804 bones and graceful architecture with measured, timeless design. At Zero George, you’ll find both period millwork and Charleston’s best contemporary art, original heart pine floors and rooms full of heart.
Zero George is definitely a more boutique B&B type of experience. If you’re more interested in that type of stay, then this place is for you!
There are 4 different types of rooms among the two different buildings on this smaller property.
Having a front porch to relax on is definitely one of the best parts of this hotel. They also offer complimentary bikes for you to ride around the city. I definitely recommend that over walking since the downtown area is definitely larger than it appears.
Cooking classes are also offered here and I think that would be the cherry on top of a southern vacay. As I mentioned way up there ^, Low Country cuisine is the best of the best in my opinion and I would love to learn from a world class chef. Just check out this beautiful kitchen located right at check-in.
There are several different picturesque common areas and porches to relax on. Just imagine yourself here curled up with wine & a book. This is what dreams are made of!
