Banda
andBeyond Mnemba Island offers an unpretentious paradise where just ten rustic palm-frond bandas are tucked into a tropical forest fringed by a white coral sand beach. Each banda at andBeyond Mnemba Island has direct access to the beach. A covered walkway leads to a shuttered ensuite bathroom with a huge glass-beaded shower curtain. Built-in barazas on the veranda is perfect for afternoon siestas, and private beach salas feature traditional Zanzibari loungers ideal for languid hours spent on the beach.
Late breakfast trays teeming with tropical fruit, freshly-squeezed juice and Tanzanian coffee can be delivered to the beach banda for those wanting to indulge in a lie-in. Fresh sushi and chilled champagne can appear discreetly at the guests’ beach loungers should they wish to celebrate the magnificent sunset in privacy. Romantic candlelit dinners are served on the beach, with the waves lapping gently at guests’ feet. THE PAVILIONS – SIMPLE PERFECTION.
15 eastern-styled domed Pavilions nestling amongst a 35-acre tropical garden are the perfect and intimate retreat for each and every guest.
The Pavilions have their very own private plunge pool and possess a separate but extraordinary “rainfall” shower room which is annexed to each of the Pavilion rooms. These same showers provide not only a spectacular view to the Ocean but the liberating sensation of being “at one with nature.”
Kilindi achieves the perfect marriage between Scandinavian minimalism and the dramatic architectural overtones of Middle Eastern heritage, whilst encouraging an open, “back-to-nature” ambiance throughout.
In each of the Pavilion suites, white wooden-slatted shutters embrace wide-arched glassless windows each affording spectacular views over the Indian Ocean. This same openness allows the gentle ocean breeze to waft throughout each of the rooms and carry with it the delightful soundtrack of Kilindi’s colorful birdlife. Any stay at Kilindi will be a delight for the senses.

THE MAIN PAVILION
A “waterfall” bar with the Main Pavilion overlooks a large 25-meter infinity pool which itself affords views out across the sparkling warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Dining takes place either on the alfresco terrace or even along the pristine white beach, which runs the length of the property.
Kilindi Zanzibar, comprising of a series of white-domed Pavilion guest rooms all set in 50 acres of lush tropical gardens, is a rarity in the world of luxury boutique hotels. Originally designed for Benny Andersson – one of the members of the 1970’s pop group ABBA – Kilindi is a true blend of the very best of diverse cultures to be found in Tanzania and on its adjacent island of Zanzibar.

With each Pavilion set in its own private tropical gardens and served by a dedicated butler, privacy is guaranteed. And should our guests wish to leave the oasis of tranquility and calm of their private Pavilion, the butler can help, advise and arrange as to the many activities and excursions that Kilindi and the island can offer.
Villas
Fifteen Eastern-inspired domed pavilions are private sanctuaries, each overlooking the kaleidoscopic colors of the Indian Ocean.
Each pavilion enjoys a spacious double suite with shuttered windows opening out onto a personal plunge pool flanked by sunbeds on a private verandah. Adjoined by a walk way, a luxurious bathroom boasts a refreshing rainfall shower.
All areas of the pavilion are designed to evoke the “back-to- nature” feel, with wide windows and an open-faced design to capture the ocean breezes, and to let guests drink in the view. The beds within the Pavilions have a “Cool Air” air conditioning system which provides an oasis over and around the bed. The window spaces are fitted with traditional wooden shutters that allow the sea breeze to permeate throughout the room.
