Aspen is one of those rare destinations that is amazing no matter what time of year you visit. While Aspen is known for it's world class skiing, the summer months provide the perfect setting for hiking, biking, horseback riding and more. I personally love Aspen for the romance it fosters, making it a #luxelistapproved destination.
Half the fun of Aspen is getting there. I highly suggest renting a car and driving to Aspen via Independence Pass. Nothing starts out a romantic vacation better than driving through winding mountains while passing gorgeous lakes and sparkling streams. There are several locations along the Pass where you can pull over and take pictures. Be on the lookout while you drive - you might spot a Moose!
Once you are in Aspen it is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. The town has bike rentals located all over that make getting anywhere incredibly easy. If you have a few days in Aspen, one of them should absolutely be spent hiking through the Maroon Bells. Be sure to arrive early in order to get a parking spot and hit the trails before the crowds roll in. If you don't want to hike but still want to see the Maroon Bells, you can hop on a shuttle bus. Only shuttle buses are allowed in from 8 am until 5 pm. Another must-do in Aspen is to ride the Silver Queen Gondola. You can see the gondola's running up Aspen Mountain from almost anywhere in the town. However, what you see from the town is only the first of two false summits. The Silver Queen Gondola takes you up to the Sundeck Restaurant where you will experience a breathtaking, top of the world view.
Since you will have worked up an appetite after all of the hiking or biking, head to one of our favorite restaurants in Aspen. The White House Tavern is one of the most well known in Aspen, and it's for good reason. They have great food, great drinks, a great atmosphere and the most charming outdoor seating. The menu may seem small, but there is not one bad thing on the menu. Another favorite of ours is Meat and Cheese. Nothing is better than a well put together charcuterie board with a wonderful glass of wine, and Meat and Cheese does not disappoint. Last but not least, we must talk about brunch. On Weekends, Justice Snow offers a brunch menu complete with eggs benedict, belgian waffles, bloody mary's and mimosas ((and huevos rancheros!)). Be sure to grab a patio table and enjoy Aspen Mountain as the backdrop.
Aspen also exceeds our high standards when it comes to accommodations. First up is The Little Nell. The Little Nell is Aspen's only 5 star, 5 diamond hotel. It is also the only hotel with ski-in, ski-out access to Aspen Mountain. During the summer months The Little Nell offers adventures such as Jeep Tours, fly fishing, and even stargazing tours.

The St Regis Aspen is another stunning hotel situated next to Aspen Mountain. The St Regis boasts the Remede Spa which was voted the #1 spa in the world by Travel + Leisure. From the champagne to the luxurious throws and customized treatments, all of your expectations will be surpassed at the St Regis Spa. Make sure you allow youself an extra hour before ((or after)) your spa appointment to enjoy the fabulous steam caves, hot tubs and cold water pool!

Another #luxelistapproved hotel on our list is The Hotel Jerome. The Hotel Jerome is located in the heart of Aspen and proudly displays all of its historical heritage. The building itself is considered a historical landmark as it was built in the 1880's - be sure to explore the lobby and the "living room" where they display all of their historical artifacts! The amenities that the Hotel Jerome provides are truly out of this world. Everything from year-round concierges, complimentary use of Mercedes-Benz, pet friendly accommodations, picnic baskets for day trips and 24 hour-in-room dining is available at The Hotel Jerome.
