Welcome to the Holy City. The land of foodies and salt life, of the arts and fashion. The land of BBQ and craft brews. Where the pace is slow and the locals are friendly. Whether you come for romantic evening strolls through gas lamp lit streets or paddle boarding the creek with dolphins at your feet, you will not want to leave. Welcome to Charleston, the #1 city in the world.
Charleston was voted the #1 city by Travel & Leisure for 2016. What better timing to showcase this wonderful city that I call home.
Three years ago my ((now)) fiancé and I decided on a whim to come to Charleston for a three day weekend. From the cobblestone streets to the horse drawn carriages, I was completely smitten. Within two months we moved from our place of residence in Florida to our new home in Mount Pleasant – one large Ravenel Bridge away from downtown Charleston.
Over the next two years we spent our time exploring every fabulous inch of the city.
On July 4th of 2015 we got engaged in Colorado while going through Independence Pass ((Independence Pass on Independence Day? Well done future husband, well done)). Instantly we both knew there was nowhere else we would rather have our wedding than here, in Charleston, South Carolina. The charm of the live oak trees dripping in Spanish moss that line the entryways to the Plantations could not provide a more inviting atmosphere for a romantic wedding. On top of that, our guests will now have the opportunity to explore all of Charleston’s many charms and to see for themselves why we love to call this city our home.
I will continue to feature a weekly City Spotlight on Charleston, bringing you everything you need to know to experience the best of the city. I look forward to featuring everything in Charleston worthy of being #luxelistapproved.
